IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University), Delhi is the most famous university in India for its distance learning programs.
Some of you may have heard of its VIEP (Vertically Integrated Engineering Programme) program. I think that it is an innovative engineering program that allows students with a wide variety of backgrounds to enter the technical education space. It allows some options to those who may not have the usually required 12th standard qualifications in the Science stream.
The IGNOU-VIEP may be ideal for a large number of candidates and can turn out to be the largest engineering program in the country.
The faculties of engineering specialization that are presently available in the IGNOU-VIEP programme are: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering.
IGNOU has announced its admission notice for 2011.
