Study in Japan: Panasonic Scholarships 2012


THE Panasonic Scholarship is for Asian countries to support Asian young students in pursuing a master’s course in Japan.

Scholarship: Panasonic Scholarship, 2012 

Objective of the scholarship:
  • Provide scholarship opportunities to privately financed students from Asian countries who wish to pursue a master's course in Japan
  • To offer financial assistance to foster highly educated experts who can contribute to the development of their countries in the 21st century
  • To promote mutual friendship between their home countries and Japan

Scholarship amount:
Research Student of Graduate School
  • Basic Scholarship:   ¥150,000 per month
  • Tuition Assistance:  Actual Amount (a maximum of ¥200,000 to be paid each half year)

Master's Course of Graduate School
Basic Scholarship:  ¥180,000 per month
Entrance Fee Assistance: Actual Amount (a maximum of ¥250,000 to be paid)
Tuition Assistance: Actual Amount (a maximum of ¥250,000 to be paid per each half year) 

Duration:
  • 3 years (1 year  research and 2 years for a master's course at graduate school)
  • Panasonic highly recommends Panasonic Scholarship students to be a research student for 1 year in order for them to improve Japanese proficiency
Eligibility:
  • Applicants must be citizens of China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam and India
  • Must be a graduate from these areas: science, technology and engineering fields.

Japanese Language Proficiency
: Applicants must have the desire to master the Japanese language not only for studying at master’s level but also for understanding Japanese culture.

Other requirements
:
  • Must be interested in and have the desire to contribute to the development of the applicable countries/area and to promote friendship between the applicable countries/area and Japan.
  • Must obtain a student visa and arrive in Japan by end of March 2012 to attend the award ceremony to be held at Panasonic Headquarters at the beginning of April 2012.

Research scholarships for Indian students in Australia


Scholarship: India Scholarships for International Research fees (SIRF)
Offered by: The University of Western Australia
Benefit: These scholarships cover 50% of International Research Fees for up to 4 years, as well as Overeas Student Health Cover. Successful applicants will also be awarded a full living allowance scholarships.

Eligibility: The candidate must be -  
  • must be eligible to enrol or be enrolled as a full-time student in a higher degree by research at the University upon commencement of their scholarship;
  • may have commenced a higher degree by research but was unable to apply for an award in the last selection round due to the timing of their enrolment;
  • must be able to commit to funding personally or have a commitment from a recognised sponsor fifty percent (50%) of the full tuition fees for up to 4 years
  • must have completed at least four years of tertiary education studies at a high level of achievement demonstrated by the award of a degree of First Class Honours standard or equivalent;
  • must meet the University's English language requirements for scholarship holders;
  • must not have completed a degree either at the same level as, or at a higher level than, the degree for which candidature is sought;
  • must commit to paying 50 per cent of the full tuition fees for the duration of their higher degree enrolment, for up to two years for a master's and for up to four years for a PhD course;
  • must be a citzen of India
Duration: The scholarship is tenable for the course for which it is awarded which is two years for the degree of master's by research; or three years for a doctoral degree. No extensions are possible for a student undertaking the degree of master.
Doctoral students may apply for an extension of up to 12 months, by applying for six months only at one time, subject to satisfactory progress, provided the grounds for extension are related to their research and are beyond the control of the student.
Note: Periods of study already undertaken towards the degree prior to the commencement of the scholarship or undertaken during suspension of the scholarship are deducted from the maximum period of tenure. A second six-month extension will not be approved if work has not progressed during the first extension.

Internship in Germany! DAAD RISE Programmes 2012

Programme mission: RISE professional placements aim to provide students the opportunity to live and work in an international context, to gain confidence in their practical and professional skills, to improve their German and be a source of mutual cultural and professional enrichment for interns and their host companies.

Eligibility
:
  • RISE programme for undergraduate students 2012: UG students currently enrolled at a US, Canadian or UK university in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering
  • RISE Professional 2012: Recent graduates, Master and PhD students from North American, USA and Canada universities in the fields of biology, chemistry, engineering, geology and physics (or a closely related field) are invited to apply. Undergraduates who are RISE alumni or former DAAD scholarship holders are also eligible.

Scholarships for PhD in Canada

Scholarship: Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships

Scholarship amount: $ 50,000 annually for upto three years
Total awards: 500 (national and international students)
Eligibility:
  • Students with scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and engineering, and health.
  • Candidates should be nominated by only one Canadian university, which must have received a Vanier CGS allocation.
  • Applicant should be seeking financial support to pursue first doctoral degree (or combined MA/PhD or MD/PhD) and should intend to pursue, in the summer semester or the academic year following the announcement of results, full-time doctoral (or combined MA/PhD or MD/PhD) studies and research at the nominating university.
How to apply:
  • International students should identify and contact the department of the Canadian postsecondary institution, with a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships program quota at which they hope to study.
  • The universities will undertake own nomination process of candidates, which begins in September. The preliminary assessment for a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship may start earlier. After the university nomination process, the selected nominees are then sent to the appropriate federal granting agency for final consideration for an award.
  • In September, the applicant are required to submit past academic results, evidence of relevant professional and academic experience including all important research work and two written evaluation by referees.

Study UK: Commonwealth Scholarships

The Award:
  • Six months of clinical training in either of Cancer Research, Cardiology, Gynecology, Medicine, Dentistry, Orthopedics, Neurology, ENT
  • One-year Master’s/equivalent degree or three-year doctoral degree in either of Engineering and Technology, Science (Pure and Applied), Agriculture, Humanities and Social Sciences

The fellowship covers: 
  • Student concessionary or other approved airfare to UK and return on expiry of the scholarship
  • Approved tuition and examination fees.
  • Personal maintenance allowance at the rate of 882 Euros per month
  • Grant towards the expenses of preparing a thesis or dissertation, where applicable; initial arrival allowance, incorporating in initial clothing grant for scholars from tropical countries; grant for expenses for approved travel within the UK or overseas; grant towards fieldwork costs for those Scholars undertaking doctoral studies for whom a case has been made for fieldwork outside UK.
  • A paid mid-term fare to their home country for Scholars on three years doctoral awards.
  • For married Scholars selected by the Commission for awards exceeding 18 months, a marriage allowance of 220 euros per month payable provided that the husband and wife are residing together at the same address in UK.

Number of Scholarships: Up to 60 nominations containing maximum 25 for doctoral studies are sent by the ministry to Commonwealth Scholarship Commission for final selection.  

Duration:
  • Six months for clinical training
  • One year for Master’s course
  • Three years for PhD course

Eligibility:

  • The candidate should not be more than 40 years of age as on 12 October 2011
  • He should have completed tertiary education in English medium. Those whose native language is not English will be required to provide evidence of sufficient competency in the language. 
  • He should hold a Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree from a recognised university with at least 60% marks in case of Humanities and Social Science while 65% in Medical, Engineering and Technology, Science and Agriculture.
  • For PG scholarship in Business and/or Management, the candidate must have taken Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
  • For scholarship in Economics and related subjects, he should have passed Graduate Record Examination (GRE) 
  • For clinical training, the candidate must have qualified MBBS/BDS between 1 October 2002 and 30 September 2007
  • Applicants in Medicine and Dentistry should be eligible for registration with the General Medical Council or the General Dental Council

Selection criteria: Applicant has to give one page academic justification for pursuing the course in UK. In addition, he has to appear for IELTS test between 1 October 2011 and 6 March 2012

Mexican Govt Scholarship: Study Agri, Biotech, IT, Engineering

Scholarship: Mexican Government Scholarship
Eligibility:
  • Should have Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with having a minimum cumulative grade average of 8 on a scale of 0-10, in relevant subject for Post-graduate studies. The candidate should have Post-graduate degree with having a minimum cumulative grade average of 8 on a scale of 0-10 in relevant subject for Ph.D.
  • If Spanish is not the applicant’s native language, proof of advanced knowledge of Spanish issued by a university or language learning center must be attached.
  • Receiving academic acceptance from the host Mexican institute. (A list of participating Mexican Institutions are given in the website
  • Preference will be given by the Mexican Government to candidates that apply for graduate programs not available in their country.

Scholarship benefits:
  • Enrollment and tuition in accordance with the provisions of each institution’s program.
  • An allowance of: Four times the current minimum wage in the Federal District for specialty, master’s or master-level research and Spanish or Mexican culture studies. This amount is currently equivalent to $7,178.40 pesos. Five times the current minimum wage in the Federal District for Ph.D., doctoral research, postdoctoral stays, medical specialties and subspecialties, and expert and artist residencies. This amount is currently equivalent to $8,973.00 pesos.
  • Medical insurance covered by Mexican Social Security Institution (IMSS), starting three months after the scholarship is initiated.
  • Transportation from Mexico City to the host institution when the scholarship starts, and back to Mexico City upon completion of the scholarship.
