CWIT teaching fellowships in Arts, Humanities

The CWIT fellowship at CRASSH (Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities) offers funding for a term of study and residence in Cambridge during the academic year 2012-13 (October 2012 - June 2013).
Fellowship: CWIT (Charles Wallace India Trust) Visiting Fellowship at CRASSH a two-year pilot scheme for a Charles Wallace India Trust Visiting Fellowship.
Offered by: CRASSH (Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities)

Eligibility: The scheme is intended for earlier-career academics from India (defined as resident and domiciled in India, between the ages of 25 and 45 years). Applicants should have been in full-time academic employment in an Indian university or research institute of equivalent standing for at least five years and have completed a PhD.

Field of specialisation: Research proposals may be in any field within the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, with an emphasis on disciplinary innovation and cross-disciplinary enquiry. Where the focus includes India, it is expected that projects will adopt an interdisciplinary approach (incorporating, for example, post-colonial, comparative, translation, or trans-regional studies). Proposals need not adhere to the Centre's annual theme, although applicants might wish to take account of it. The theme for 2012-13 will be the Cultures and Politics of the Transregional.
Applicants whose research focuses primarily on the culture and history of India are advised to apply to Cambridge’s Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS). The CWIT Fellow would be in residence at Cambridge for a period of 9-12 weeks during term time in 2012-13.

Grant & benefits:  Fellows will receive a grant on arrival to cover the cost of accommodation and living expenses, currently set at £1200 per month. The CWIT Fellowship at CRASSH covers the return airfare from India (provided by the Charles Wallace Trust and organized through British Council India).  CRASSH can arrange for a joint Visiting Fellowship at Wolfson College with accommodation provided by the college.
