Great Lakes offers Master's courses for energy professionals

GREAT LAKES INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT, Chennai has tied up with Institute of Energy Management and Research (IEMR), Gurgaon to offer postgraduate diploma programmes in energy management.

Dr. BSK Naidu, as the Chairman spearheads IEMR, Gurgaon which offers a two-year full time post-graduate programme in management apart from short term management training programmes on the energy sector. AICTE approved, Great Lakes Institute of Management founded by Dr Bala V Balachandran (also the founder of SB hyderabad and MDI Gurgaon) focusses on two-year part-time Executive MBA, Post-Graduate Global Executive Program in Management (PGXPM), two-year Post Graduate Working Professional Program In Management (PGWPM) and Global Energy Executive MBA (GEMBA).

“Traditional management schools do not have energy as a specialisation. Our aim is to upgrade the skills of those professionals who serve top energy-driven companies," says Easwer Krishna Iyer, Director-Admissions, Great Lakes IEMR. Post collaboration, IEMR will be called  Great Lakes Institute of Energy Management and Research (GLIEMR).

The institute will offer two new energy specialised programmes at its Gurgaon campus, comprising the One-year full-time Post Graduate Professional Programme in Management (PGPM) and two-year weekend Post Graduate Working Professionals in Management (PWPM) programme. According to Dr. B Balachandran, Dean, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, these progarmmes have already helped many professionals upgrade their skills in Chennai and will be replicated at GLIEMR.

The PGWP designed for working professionals in the energy sector is the weekend version of the full-time PGPM and follows similar courses and credits. The curriculum, which has been developed by domain experts provides is a mix of general management and energy sector-specific management skills and knowledge.
