Scholarship: Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships

For: Doctoral studies in social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and engineering, and health

Scholarship sponsored by: Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)

Scholarship amount: $ 50,000 annually for upto three years
Total awards: 500 (national and international students)
Eligibility:

• Students with scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and engineering, and health.
• Candidates should be nominated by only one Canadian university, which must have received a Vanier CGS allocation.
• Applicant should be seeking financial support to pursue first doctoral degree (or combined MA/PhD or MD/PhD) and should intend to pursue, in the summer semester or the academic year following the announcement of results, full-time doctoral (or combined MA/PhD or MD/PhD) studies and research at the nominating university.

How to apply:

• International students should identify and contact the department of the Canadian postsecondary institution, with a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships program quota at which they hope to study.
• The universities will undertake own nomination process of candidates, which begins in September. The preliminary assessment for a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship may start earlier. After the university nomination process, the selected nominees are then sent to the appropriate federal granting agency for final consideration for an award.
• In September, the applicant are required to submit past academic results, evidence of relevant professional and academic experience including all important research work and two written evaluation by referees.
