The University offers Research Degree Programmes for Category A and Category B candidates subject to such Research Programmes are on offer for such Categories. Details are provided on each Research Discipline in the Prospectus.

The University offers Research Degree Programmes for Category A and Category B candidates subject to such Research Programmes are on offer for such Categories. Details are provided on each Research Discipline in the Prospectus.
- Category A: Candidates having M.Phil or 5 years’ relevant teaching/ professional experience, who can directly undertake thesis work for Ph.D. (Candidates under Category A could also be given coursework subject to recommendations of the Doctoral Committee of the Research Discipline).
- Category B: Candidates who have to undergo basic Course Work before or alongside undertaking thesis work. (Candidates who qualify UGC NET, GATE of IIT, JEST of DAE etc will be considered under Category B)
Note: Candidates with
Post graduate degree or other equivalent degrees recognized by the UGC
are eligible with the eligibility criteria specified for each research
discipline in the prospectus. For details of specific eligibility
criteria discipline-wise, candidates are required to see information
given under each discipline on the eligibility criteria, selection
procedure, etc in the prospectus placed on the website.
Selection process: Entrance Test for all eligible candidates will be held on November 20, 2011. Entrance Test will be held at IGNOU HQs, New Delhi only. Candidates who have qualified UGC NET, GATE of IIT, JEST of DAE etc recognized by the IGNOU will be exempted from the Entrance Test of the University. However, all such candidates will have to face an interview to be conducted by the faculty of the research discipline of the University.
