Objective of the programme: This course is mandatory to become a Junior Marine Engineer in Merchant Ships.

Programme highlights:

• Class room instructions, laboratory works, workshop practices and afloat training will be imparted as per the DGS approved syllabus in accordance with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).
• Written and Practical tests will be conducted from time to ti time and minimum pass marks 50% in each subject is required for the successful completion of the course.

Eligibility: Degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Naval Architecture approved by All India Co Council of uncil Technical Education

Duration: One year

Age limit: 28 years

Medium of instruction: English

Programme Fee: At the time of admission, the candidate shall pay course fee of RS. 2,75,000 by Demand Draft of any Nationalized Bank, in favor of “Cochin Shipyard Limited”, payable at Ernakulam. (This includes tuition fee fee, study materials, library fee, laboratory charges, lniforms, boarding and lodging expenses, swimming pool charges, group insurance, student membership of institute of marine engineers)

Programme Fee for female candidates: Rs. 2,00,000

Selection process:

• Height & Weight: Minimum 157 cms with correlated weight and proportionate chest.
• Eye Sight: Candidate should have no abnormalities with eye sight. Colour Blindness is not acceptable olour acceptable.
• Hearing: Must be good, conforming to ILO. Convention 147.
